This weekend I went camping! Thursday night we stayed at the home of mom's parents where I got to play with my country cousins. Her mom organized a team for the Belmont County Relay for Life event. It's a fundraising event for cancer. Friday we went to the campgrounds to set up. We had a tent and cots and I had my own cage where I could observe everything that was going on. I was the team mascot and got a lot of attention.

The team theme was Bootcamp. We had a tent with a camouflage print banner for the name and another for our slogan, "Save the drama for your mama and walk!" Our team won "The most laps" award and "The most money raised" award as well as the overall first place trophy for the most points received during the course of the event. It was a success.

Sunday was a day to relax and recuperate. I played outside most of the day. I found a nice cool, shady spot under a pine tree next to the house where I could nap. That morning my cousin, Van Dyke, caught a baby rabbit! That was exciting and impressive although the humans didn't seem very happy about it. He must be a great hunter! Maybe he will teach me someday.

Mom and I went on a roadtrip this weekend. Friday afternoon we drove up to Cleveland for the holiday. Mom went to see the Indians play the Yankees while I got settled in. The place where we stay is downtown and has a cool view from the 13th floor (although there aren't many birds to watch from that height). I can even see the lake on a clear day. The apartment is smaller than what I'm used to so I didn't have as much space to run around. And when I played at night it woke up Mom. Of course, sometimes I was playing with things I wasn't supposed to, like the big palm-like plant that I could reach from the window sill.

Anyway, the weather wasn't that nice so Mom and her friend stayed in with me and watched a lot of TV. I got lots of visitors too. Mom and I left to go home early Monday evening. I was sad to leave but looking forward to being in my own home again.

Kitty KooshMom brought home two surprises for me today. I managed to get into the box before she could get them out. I just knew the stuff in the box was for me. One was a toy that attaches to a glass surface with a suction cup and suspends this kooshy bird on an elastic string. Mom said this was to entertain me during our roadtrips but she put it on the patio door for me to check out.

Drinkwell FountainThe second present was the best one though. I just love to play with the water from the faucet when Mom is brushing her teeth so she got me a faucet of my own! Except this one is at my level and runs all day so I can play or drink from it whenever I want. Very cool presents - thanks Mom!

This weekend was great. I had a friend from Cleveland, OH visiting Thursday through Sunday. He is very fond of me and gave me lots of attention. We talked quite a bit. Now it will be my turn to visit him next. It's been a few weeks since my last roadtrip; I can't wait for the next one!

Mom gave me a bath this evening. It wasn't so bad because I feel better now that I'm clean and I got rid of a lot of loose fur. That wasn't the reason I got a bath though...I don't want to say why I got the bath because it's kind of embarrassing. Anyway, Mom said I would have a guest to stay with me Thursday, Friday and Saturday while Mom's away. I'm excited that I'll have someone around to give me the attention I deserve. I can't wait!

Chipmunk Mom stopped by to visit me at lunch. What a nice surprise! I was so happy to see her I couldn't stop talking and purring. She opened the glass patio door so I could look outside - one of my favorite pastimes. And the best part - there was a chipmunk not three feet away from the screen door. I could almost smell him! He sat there looking at me for at least a minute. If that screen door wasn't there, I could have had a fresh lunch! Eventually he scurried away and Mom had to close the door so I would be safe again while she was gone. I miss Mom.

After spending a day in the basement of Mom's friend's house, I got to go home. I must add that it was a very nice basement though.

Mom had a soccer game at 9PM and had to get me settled in earlier that evening. The house she's staying at is 30 minutes away so she's only be able to visit me once a day for now. I'm glad to be back in my own home where I can go anywhere I want.

Today was an exciting and frightening day. Mom took me on a short trip after she got home from work. She told me she is house-sitting for friends. They have two dogs and two cats. Mom thought I'd be happy to have playmates and I was excited about the possibility. Unfortunately, those kitties weren't very excited about having me as a new playmate. They hid from me from the beginning and all of my efforts to get them to come out went unheeded. But that was just the start of my troubles.

Mom tried to introduce me to the doggies, but they must have mistaken me for a skunk because of my black and white markings. That just proves that dogs are dumb. They started to chase after me and didn't turn away when I gave them my frightful hiss. I was scared and didn't know where to run as I was in unfamiliar surroundings. Mom yelled at the dogs and grabbed me and took me to safety. In the mayhem, I accidently bit and scratched Mom for which I am very sorry. I meant to get those mean and nasty mutts. Mom wasn't upset with me, thankfully.

After that incident, Mom decided it was best if I went back home to stay for the rest of the week. She was too worried about what might happen to me during the day even though I could stay safely in the basement with the other two (anti-social) kitties. At home, however, I have plenty of windows to sit in and toys to play with.
